Manager of Franchise Development

We are searching for a Manager of Franchise Development to focus on selling licenses to new, external franchisees with an emphasis on high-net-worth individuals, multi-unit operators, and small private equity groups. In this role you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in expanding ServiceMaster Brands' footprint by targeting well-capitalized operators, underwriting franchise opportunities, and guiding candidates through their diligence to ensure sound investment decisions for both sides.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both relationship-driven sales and analytical financial discussions, and who can manage multiple inbound and outbound lead sources to deliver consistent new franchise growth.

What you will do :

  • Drive new franchise license sales by cultivating relationships with external, well-capitalized operators, including small private equity firms and multi-unit franchisees from other brands.
  • Support underwriting of potential investments, leveraging financial modeling to help candidates accurately assess return on investment.
  • Confidently articulate brand value proposition to sophisticated buyers and investors.
  • Manage multiple inbound lead sources while also proactively generating outbound leads through :
  • Contacting multi-unit franchisees from other brands.

  • Engaging with local operators.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Legal, Finance, Operations) to streamline the franchisee evaluation, approval, and onboarding process.
  • Track, report, and forecast franchise development activity, including deal pipeline and projected growth by market.
  • Represent SMB at industry events, conferences, and private equity networking forums to generate leads and elevate brand presence.
  • What you will bring :

  • Franchise Sales Experience : 5–7+ years in franchise development, business development, or investment sales, with a strong record of closing deals with multi-unit operators or high-net-worth groups.
  • Financial Acumen : Ability to underwrite deals and walk candidates through financial modeling, including return analysis, EBITDA, and investment requirements.
  • Relationship Building : Proven success in cultivating trust and credibility with sophisticated buyers, small private equity firms, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Lead Generation : Demonstrated ability to manage inbound leads while building creative outbound channels to drive growth.
  • Deal Execution : Skilled at navigating complex deal structures and moving candidates through the pipeline to close.
  • Industry Knowledge : Familiarity with service-based businesses is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial & Resourceful : Creates opportunities through proactive outreach and unconventional lead sources.
  • Financially Fluent : Confident discussing investment structures, underwriting, and financial outcomes with sophisticated buyers.
  • Results-Driven : Persistent closer with urgency and accountability to growth goals.
  • Collaborative & Credible : Operates effectively across internal teams while representing our brands with professionalism and integrity externally.
  • High-Energy & Passionate : Brings enthusiasm, excitement, and a strong sense of purpose to their work, inspiring confidence and momentum in prospective franchisees.
  • Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Work Location :   This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S., excluding Los Angeles County.

    Compensation Details :

    The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At SMB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000 to $110,000 plus incentive.
