About The Position

Must-Have : Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips, ability to titrate IV drips, flexibility to float as needed

Description :

The unit consists of 30 beds, including private and semi-private rooms.

The goal for nurse-patient ratios is 1 : 4, but typically operates at 1 : 5 and occasionally 1 : 6.

Registered Nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips.

Nurses must be able to titrate various drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix.

All respiratory equipment is managed by respiratory therapy.

A hospitalist and intensivist are available in-house 24 / 7.

An IV team is present in-house 24 / 7 for all IV starts.

Pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

Staff must be prepared to start shifts by 6 : 45 AM / PM.

Self-scheduling is permitted as long as unit needs are met.

Staff are allowed to request four days off per month.

All staff may be required to float into other units as needed, with ratios of up to 1 : 6.

Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, possible myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-procedure care.

Staff manage patients undergoing specific therapies and provide care for overflow patients requiring intermediate care acuity.

Cancellations of shifts may occur as per policy.

The charting system used is Allscripts - Sunrise.
