Job description

Overview

The South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate to apply. Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and oversee recreational activities for students in evenings and weekends.
  • Chaperone and supervise recreational activities, including transporting students to and from activities.
  • Assist in planning, coordination, and execution of campus / agency events such as Howe-lloween, AG Fest, Campus Tailgate, 5K race, Orientation, Preview Days, Graduation, Move-In Day, and other large campus events.
  • Ensure Activity / Game Room, Gym, and other spaces have appropriate supplies; requisition and maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and oversee recreational activities for summer programs.
  • Keep Activity Room, Gym, and other spaces clean, safe, and tidy.
  • Instruct students in methods, techniques, and rules of various recreational activities.
  • Plan and coordinate intramural activities; participate in campus committees as assigned.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • High school diploma and relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, therapeutic recreation or related field. Valid driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of planning, organizing, and overseeing recreational activities.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate activities.
  • Ability to instruct students in various recreational activities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, hear, speak, write, and understand English; must be willing to work with a diverse group of students and employees.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to drive state vehicles (state vehicles include truck, van, minibus). CDL with school bus and passenger endorsement a plus; agriculture knowledge a plus.
  • Must be able to work second shift, some weekday evenings and weekends as needed.
