The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Lead Transportation Assistant. The Lead Transportation Assistant will function under the Veterans Transportation Service. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to : daily responsibilities include collecting, compiling and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veterans Transportation Service (VTS). Performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Reviews documents, reports and / or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system. Receives reports and information to verify that workload being captured is correct in the VetRide system. Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc. Interacts with various other transportation services such as Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), etc., and other transportation providers. Receives and reviews billings from various parties for government payment and verifies services billed were authorized by the VA. Arranges special mode transport for patients adhering to provider specifications of mode of transport and ensuring the mode is correctly denoted per the patient's medical condition. Coordinates patient transfer with other VA ensuring the patient arrives at a specified time for admission. Incumbent accurately arranges and coordinates air ambulance travel for eligible veterans for organ / tissue transplants or other inter-facility transfers, prepares authorizations for travel by taxi and / or other hired vehicles, and makes travel arrangements based on information from the traveler en route to resolve problems. Work Schedule : Monday - Friday 8 : 00am - 4 : 30pm Telework : This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
