Job Title : Lead Associate

Classification : Full Time. Non-exempt.

Reports to : Store Manager / Assigned Manager

Position Summary

The Lead Associate plays a key role in supporting store operations and driving the mission of Liberty Ministries Thrift. This position requires knowledge and hands-on experience in all areas of the store, including donations, pricing, merchandising, POS systems, and customer service. The Lead Associate is responsible for opening and closing the store as scheduled and will serve as the Manager on Duty (MOD) when the Store Manager or Assistant Manager is not present.

This role is designed to prepare individuals for future leadership opportunities within Liberty. We are seeking candidates who are eager to grow, committed to excellence, and passionate about serving both customers and our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily store operations in the absence of management, functioning as the Manager on Duty.
  • Ensure smooth donation intake, pricing, and merchandising processes to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Operate and train others on the POS system; resolve register and transaction issues as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, modeling professional, mission-focused interactions with donors, shoppers, and team members.
  • Open and close the store following established procedures, ensuring security and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Assist in training, coaching, and supporting team members to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Maintain store appearance, merchandising standards, and organizational systems to uphold Liberty’s values and mission.
  • Support the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in achieving sales goals and store performance objectives.
  • Embody and promote Liberty’s mission of changing lives and reducing recidivism through meaningful work.

Qualifications

  • Previous retail, thrift, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and support a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Dependable, flexible, and motivated to learn all aspects of store operations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.
  • Passion for Liberty’s mission and a desire to grow into leadership within the organization.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
  • Perform repetitive tasks such as bending, lifting, sorting, and reaching.
