Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time contractual multi faceted position is to support a 24 / 7 inpatient substance use treatment program. This job entails being able to independently perform moderate complex tasks in maintenance work (such as carpentry electrical painting plumbing air-conditioning refrigeration etc..) and assist as needed with housekeeping and fleet management. This will include but is not limited to routine construction work grounds maintenance rendering routine preventive maintenance and making minor repairs or improvements to the facility. The position will assemble / disassemble furniture move items as needed participate in building inspections to ensure health & safety standards are being met and support inventory control. This position requires driving various vehicles including 15 passenger vans tractors power mowers and other equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education : None.

Experience : Two years of experienceinState government as aMaintenance Worker III or equivalentclass.

OR

Education : Fifth grade.

Experience : Four years of experiencein any combination of two or more of the maintenance trades such as carpentry electricity metalwork welding painting plastering plumbing air-conditioning refrigeration steam fitting masonry and the other trowel trades.

Notes :

1. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited vocational-technical high school for up to two years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repair classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in any combination of maintenance trades on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage accidental death and dismemberment insurance and life insurance but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
