Finance Operations Analyst

As a Finance Operations Analyst, you will play be responsible for both accounting functions and financial planning and analysis (FP&A) tasks.

You will analyze financial data, prepare financial statements, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and drive process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities :

Accounting Functions :

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze cash flow.

Financial Planning & Analysis :

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends and provide insights on financial performance.
  • Prepare regular financial reports and dashboards for management, highlighting key metrics and actionable insights.
  • Support strategic decision-making by providing data-driven financial analyses and scenario modeling.

Process Improvement :

  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and controls, implementing best practices to drive efficiency and accuracy.
  • Automate and streamline financial reporting processes to reduce manual efforts and improve turnaround times.

Ad-hoc Reporting & Analysis :

  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as required by management to support business initiatives and projects.
  • Assist in preparing materials for board meetings and investor presentations.

Compliance and Audit Support :

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Assist in preparing for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience : 2-4 years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial analysis; experience in a startup environment is a plus.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Avalara (required)
  • Accounting Knowledge : Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP / IFRS).
  • Analytical Skills : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Team Player : Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Adaptability : Comfortable with ambiguity and able to thrive in a rapidly changing startup atmosphere.
