Custodial Worker

Qualifications :

1) High school Diploma or GED

2) Some cleaning experience desirable but not necessary

Required Knowledges, Skills, Abilities, and Attributes :

Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; ability to follow simple oral and written instructions; willingness to perform routine cleaning and other manual tasks; ability to get along well with others; thoroughness; dependability; good physical condition.

Responsibilities :

1) Cleans, sweeps, mops, washes walls, dusts, cleans and polishes furniture and windows, woodwork, railings, window coverings, stairs, hallways and restrooms;

2) Empties waste baskets, pencil sharpeners, etc. and disposes of rubbish;

3) Cleans and washes lavatory fixtures, mirrors, chalk boards and chalk trays;

4) Replaces light bulbs, dispensers, etc. Fills dispensers with soap, disposable paper products, etc.;

5) Vacuums and cleans carpets and furniture; straightens office, classroom and cafeteria furniture;

6) Secures and locks windows and doors;

7) Turns off lights and small appliances;

8) Provides continuous awareness of all safety precautions, procedures, etc. and reports problems / deficiencies to Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds;

9) Gives assistance as necessary to educational personnel;

10) Delivers packages and messages;

11) Paints rooms and equipment and assists in making minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs;

10) Clears snow and ice from walks;

11) May perform groundskeeping tasks;

12) Arranges furniture and equipment for special use of school building;

13) Participates, when appropriate, in skill development opportunities related to the field of building maintenance;

14) Completes mandated training. Ex. Right to Know;

15) Adheres to all Board of Education and Building Policies.

Other Performs related duties as required or assigned.
