Salary : $20.80 to $26.33 Hourly (SR-11, Step C to I)

Note : Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Shift Work : Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Perform highly complex library support work; supervise and participate in performing complex library support work; and / or perform substantive technical / paraprofessional library support work which requires knowledge and understanding of techniques used in one or more of the basic elements of library sciences; and perform other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements :

Legal Authorization to Work : The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

General Experience : One (1) year of clerical work experience, which demonstrated knowledge of spelling and arithmetic; and the ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and compare words and numbers quickly and accurately.

This experience must also demonstrate knowledge of and ability to perform various clerical procedures, operate various kinds of office equipment, and deal with others in a tactful and polite manner; or must have been at least comparable to the Library Assistant II level.

Specialized Experience : Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a library which involved performing various library support activities (e.g., circulation work, stack maintenance, processing orders for library materials, posting receipt of periodicals and other materials, locating and verifying bibliographic information using standard sources, etc.) and which demonstrated knowledge of and required the application of library terminology, practices, policies and procedures and understanding of the nature and organization of library materials.

Supervisory Aptitude : For certain positions, supervisory aptitude may be required. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Driver's License : Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
