Structural Trades I / Building Maintenance
The Structural Trades I / Building Maintenance position is located in Region 1, Maintenance Section 5 in Aurora. Maintenance Section 5 exists to provide the best possible work environment by performing all the various repairs, improvements, modifications, and additions to 155 buildings at 38 maintenance sites in 14 counties as well as maintaining, repairing, or replacing all building equipment in Region 1.
This position will ensure adequate performance of heating and air conditioning systems, fuel systems, flooring (carpet, tile, concrete), roofs (shingle and metal), doors, windows, locks, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other related trades work. Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Maintain building key and lock systems, key records, key by code, installing / repairing locks, rekeying / master keying locks.
- Assist in the installation of garage doors; measure and repair all types of doors such as man-doors, overhead garage door, electric garage door openers and man-door closures.
- Install or repair 1 / 4" to 6" pipe using copper, galvanized, black and plastic pipe.
- Assist with remodeling of offices, additions to buildings and new construction.
- Assist with installation or repair of above ground fuel tanks, fuel pumps and piping waste oil tanks placement and building secondary containment, and repair of different heaters.
- Perform snow removal in parking lots and sidewalks using snow shovels, and light to heavy duty equipment.
- Clean offices, dust, vacuum, wash windows, clean blinds, rest rooms, mop, wax and strip floors; wash walls, disinfect urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, paint offices; and perform other related custodial duties.
- Maintain records of all maintenance and repair work utilizing computer systems.
- Other job duties as assigned.

Experience Only :
Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the structural trades (carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting or masonry).Experience & Education :
At least two years of experience and / or education that includes a combination of the following :Experience in the structural trades (carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting or masonry).Successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or higher-level course work from an accredited, non-correspondence, vocation or trades school appropriate to the work assignment may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Documentation of this must be submitted with your application.Conditions of Employment :
