Data Engineer - Fleet Operations & Analytics Foster City, CA
Pay Range : $96.00 - $106.61 / hr Duration : 6 months
Key Responsibilities
Data Infrastructure & Pipelines
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL / ELT pipelines to process vehicle telemetry, service logs, and operations data
- Build and maintain real-time data pipelines that process fleet telemetry, mission status, and dispatch data
- Implement monitoring and alerting systems for data quality, latency, and availability
- Integrate multiple software platforms and design large-scale data processing systems
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Analytics
Partner with operations teams (fleet ops, safety, remote assist) to define KPIs and provide accessible, reliable datasetsEnable self-service analytics by designing well-documented datasets and tools for dashboardsWork closely with data scientists, software engineers, and operations analysts to integrate ML models into production workflowsCollaborate with product and operations leadership to translate business needs into data-driven solutionsOperational Excellence & Automation
Build lightweight automation systems and dashboards to reduce manual workload on dispatch and readiness teamsDevelop APIs and pipelines that integrate operational data directly into decision-making toolsCreate structured feedback loops where operational learnings are captured, analyzed, and fed into engineering roadmapsPartner with product and operations engineering teams to address recurring issues and inefficienciesRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field with 6+ years of experienceMaster's degree in Engineering preferred (ML experience preferred) with 5+ years of experienceProven experience in data engineering, data science, ML, and predictive analyticsTechnical Skills
Databricks : Proficiency with workflows, jobs, and platform capabilitiesData Visualization : Experience with Looker, Tableau, and PowerBIProgramming : Strong proficiency in SQL and Python; PySpark experience preferredDatabase & Analytics : Advanced SQL skills for complex data manipulation and analysisAbility to integrate multiple software platforms and design large-scale data pipelinesCore Competencies
