Job Summary :
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides essential care, support, and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) or other special needs. The DSP’s primary role is to empower clients to lead more independent, meaningful, and inclusive lives in their homes and communities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide direct personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
- Support individuals with daily living activities and life skills development
- Assist with medication administration (as permitted by state regulations)
- Monitor, document, and report changes in clients’ behavior, health, and overall condition
- Transport clients to appointments, community outings, and activities
- Encourage socialization, participation, and community integration
- Follow individual service plans (ISPs) and behavior support plans
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment
- Support clients in achieving personal goals and independence
- Handle crises and implement de-escalation techniques when necessary
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED requiredValid driver’s license and reliable transportation requiredMust pass background check and drug screeningCPR / First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred, but not requiredStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to lift and transfer individuals (up to 50lbs)Why Join Us?
