Position Overview A Travel Registered Nurse (Travel RN) provides short-term clinical support to healthcare facilities experiencing staffing shortages. Travel RNs deliver high-quality patient care in diverse settings, quickly adapting to new environments, policies, and care teams. Assignments typically range from 8–26 weeks and may include hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and specialty units. Key Responsibilities Patient Care Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on nursing standards and facility protocols. Administer medications, treatments, and therapies according to physician orders. Monitor and document patient status, vital signs, and clinical changes. Clinical Coordination Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and manage patient care plans. Communicate effectively with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare staff to ensure continuity of care. Educate patients and their families on treatments, discharge plans, and health maintenance. Adaptability & Compliance Rapidly adjust to new clinical environments, workflows, EMR systems, and staffing structures. Comply with state and federal regulations, facility policies, and travel nurse contract obligations. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the facility’s charting system. Specialty-Specific Duties Perform skills and tasks based on assignment (e.g., ICU monitoring, ER triage, OR circulating / scrubbing, Med-Surg bedside care, Labor & Delivery support). Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (compact license preferred). Minimum 1–2 years of recent clinical experience in relevant specialty. BLS certification required; ACLS, PALS, TNCC, or specialty certifications may be required depending on assignment. Proficiency with common EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech). Ability to travel and work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
