A long-standing, family-owned manufacturer of custom-engineered overhead crane systems is growing its service team and hiring multiple Industrial Technicians . This is a hands-on, technically challenging role supporting the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of large-scale overhead crane and runway systems used across U.S. industrial facilities.
This company has several major projects scheduled over the next few years, offering stable work, consistent growth, and the chance to learn from experienced technicians. When not in the field, you’ll work in the shop assisting with system assembly, wiring, and testing—ensuring each crane meets high performance and safety standards before installation.
What You’ll Do
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain overhead crane systems
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
- Wire control panels and work with 480V systems
- Diagnose issues with PLCs, relays, sensors, and VFDs
- Work with industrial motor controls, limit switches, and automation components
- Assist with assembly, wiring, and testing of crane systems in the shop
- Travel up to 20% for field assignments in rotating weekly crews
Must-Have Qualifications
1+ year of experience as a field service, maintenance, or industrial technicianStrong electrical background with hands-on troubleshooting abilityExperience with 480V systems and industrial motor controlsAbility to wire control panels and read electrical schematicsProficiency with PLC / VFD troubleshooting and diagnostic toolsBasic mechanical aptitude (hoists, gearboxes, drive assemblies)Ability to work safely in industrial environmentsNice-to-Have Skills
3+ years of related experienceExperience with cranes, hoists, or material handling systemsFamiliarity with automation systems or control logicCommissioning / start-up experience for electrical or mechanical equipmentKnowledge of OSHA or NFPA 70E electrical safety standardsMechanical fabrication skills (drilling, cutting, fitting)Technical certificate or associate degree in electrical, mechatronics, or industrial maintenanceLocation : Alsip, IL
Hours : 6 : 00 AM – 2 : 30 PM
Pay : $25–$40 / hr (based on experience) Contract-to-hire (6 months)
