Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Resident Care Oversight: - Monitor the delivery of nursing care to ensure it meets standards of quality, safety, and resident dignity.
- Conduct rounds to assess resident conditions and address concerns promptly.
- Coordinate and supervise implementation of resident care plans.
- Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate appropriate care and documentation.
Staff Supervision & Leadership: - Supervise and support nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) during assigned shifts.
- Provide guidance, direction, and clinical support as needed.
- Participate in staff evaluations, corrective actions, and ongoing development.
- Ensure proper shift hand-offs, documentation, and communication between teams.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation: - Ensure all care practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHRs).
- Assist in preparing for inspections, audits, and surveys (e.g., from CMS, state health department).
Medication & Treatment Oversight: - Monitor medication administration and ensure adherence to physician orders.
- Assist with or perform complex treatments as needed.
- Investigate and report medication errors or adverse events per policy.
Communication & Collaboration: - Act as a liaison between staff, residents, families, physicians, and external providers.
- Address resident or family concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (social workers, rehab, dietary, etc.) to coordinate holistic care.
Job Requirements: • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Minimum [2-3] years of nursing experience in long-term care or geriatric setting
• Supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred
• Current CPR/BLS Certification
• Knowledge of nursing home regulations, infection control, and care planning
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Physical and Sensory Requirements: • Moderate physical activity:
• Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds to a minimum height of three (3) feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty (50) feet.
• Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
• Bending and/or stooping for more than one (1) hour at a time.
• Sitting for more than one (1) hour at a time.
• Requires writing and/or computer work with repetitive typing and concentrating on computer screen and/or documents for more than one (1) hour at a time.
