At the direction of the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, qualified applicant will perform skilled mechanical work and routine maintenance on the municipal vehicle fleet which includes heavy construction equipment, generators, trucks and automobiles. Assist in the maintenance and repair of small engines, tools, and equipment. Assist Public Works & Engineering personnel with emergency operations, comply with all safety procedures and policies of the Village, and perform other duties and special assignments as directed.

Examples of Work

• Perform preventative maintenance according to manufacturer's specifications (oil change, lube, tire rotation, tune up, check and change filters, etc.)
• Inspect and service transmission, differential, brake systems, cooling system, hydraulics, clutch and fuel systems.
• Perform diagnostic engine analysis.
• Welding as required.
• Perform snowplowing, ice control and other emergency duties such as disaster services, water main breaks, sewer main excavations, etc.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting base hourly wage of $29.29 ($60,933 annually). The selected candidate will have the opportunity to advance a step within the salary range on an annual basis.
