About the Indiana Veterans' Home : The Indiana Veterans' Home is located in West Lafayette, Indiana. Originally created to care for veterans of the Civil War, the Indiana Veterans' Home welcomed its first resident in 1896. Located on 250+ acres in West Lafayette, IVH is a full-service care facility offering a complete array of services for residents. The mission of the Indiana Veterans' Home is to honor Indiana's veterans and their spouses by providing the highest level of care in a therapeutic home-like environment, enhancing health and yielding optimal quality of life. To do this and meet the unique needs of these heroes and their families, we deliver compassionate and comprehensive skilled care while integrating arts and cultural programming and preserving the rich history of the Home.

If you are not currently CNA certified, you must be willing to take an upcoming class provided by the Indiana Veteran's Home to gain this certification.

Salary : The salary for this position traditionally starts between $27,820.00 - $38,922.00.

A Day in the Life :

The essential functions of this role are as follows :

• Direct, instruct, and supervise patients in specialized activities.
• Advise and reinforce patients on acceptable social behavior employing behavior modification or other techniques.
• Plan, schedule, execute activities for therapeutic field trips.
• Observe and document patient progress, attendance, behavior, and outcomes for the individual patients and make recommendations regarding changes in activities.
• Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities and ordering of supplies and equipment making minor repairs on special equipment.
