Founded in 1981 as a non-union electrical contracting firm to penetrate and capitalize on the need for quality electrical contracting services in the commercial construction industry of Los Angeles. From its inception, we have been building upon its reputation as a “relationship” organization by concentrating on the private tenant improvement and ground-up commercial projects with a select list of clients.

The Company emerged in the early 1990’s as a major player in the market successfully completing projects ranging from $100,000 to $12,000,000. The Company continued to build its operating and financial strength throughout the 1990’s when it was able to capitalize on the “dot-com boom” for electrical contractors, peaking at over 400 employees.

With the Internet crash severely impacting the construction industry, the Company retrenched to our core business and continued to build our market share in commercial, healthcare, hospitality, public works and high rise residential segments. We continue to expand our client base with a list of notable clients while emphasizing its core business model; the repeat customer. The company moved to its present location in 1998 where the facilities have been continually expanded and improved for its increasing operations.

Job Details

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years estimating, cost control and / or engineering experience related to electrical construction
  • Successful track record estimating and negotiating large, complex projects
  • Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques and estimating software
  • Ability to successfully coordinate and supervise group work effort
  • Superior technical, analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Accubid and Accubid Live Count Software is helpful though not required

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid or project
  • Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine the scope of work and required contents of project estimate
  • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc., into unit and man-hour figures
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work using the estimating software
  • Ascertain any risks related to the estimate in order to guarantee that provisions are made for those risks in the tender
  • Ensure that estimates are complete, well-organized and ready for review before the given deadline
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-ups
  • Coordinate with the field operations team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team
  • Provide leadership and mentor junior estimators and other members of the Preconstruction group
