Travel Nurse Job Details

Location : Des Moines, Iowa 50309

Healthcare Setting : Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Assignment Type : Travel RN

Start Date : November 24, 2025

End Date : February 23, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Nursing Shift : 12-hour nights, 3 shifts / week (36 hours / week)

Weekend / Holiday : Every 3rd weekend; holiday rotation required

EMR System : EPIC

Unit Details : 42 beds; 1 : 2 or 1 : 3 nurse-to-patient ratio

Estimated Weekly Salary : $2080–$2230

NICU RN Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent NICU Registered Nurse experience

Active Iowa RN license or compact state nursing license

BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required

Dependent and Child Abuse certifications (can be obtained during onboarding)

Ability to float to general pediatrics and PICU as needed

First-time travel nurses welcome

NICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in the NICU

Monitor and manage patients with respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, and other neonatal conditions

Administer vasopressors, sedation, and glucose per physician orders

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop individualized care plans

Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical records (EMR)

Participate in scheduled holiday and weekend rotations

Maintain a safe, supportive, and family-centered clinical environment
