Studio AR&D Architects is a Los Angeles based architecture firm that offers a creative and collaborative work environment with a growing portfolio of work that seeks to be both poetic and meaningful in every detail.
Currently, we are seeking a Project Architect to join our fast-paced and dynamic studio. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of architectural design and construction, with experience leading projects from concept through completion. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
A Project Architect will work hand-in-hand with Job Captains and the design team to develop exceptional projects at varying scales and technical complexities. The right person for this role will be a thoughtful communicator, strategic thinker, and collaborative problem solver with an eye for craft, detail, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of design and construction documents from concept through construction administration
- Collaborate closely with Job Captains, design staff, and consultants to ensure coordinated, high-quality project delivery
- Provide mentorship, redlining, and technical guidance to junior team members
- Conduct code and zoning analyses, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
- Coordinate consultant work and integrate engineering systems into architectural drawings
- Oversee document quality, accuracy, and consistency with office standards
- Engage in ongoing studio activities, project reviews, and advancement of firm culture
- Participate in client and consultant meetings as required
Requirements
Bachelor's or Masters Degree in ArchitectureArchitectural license required8-15+ years of professional experience, preferably including high-end residential or design-focused projectsExtensive experience in design development, detailing, and construction documentationStrong technical skills with a deep understanding of building systems, construction methods, and detailingProficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft OfficeProficiency in 3D modeling software strongly preferred (Sketchup, Rhino)Proven experience guiding production teams through project timelines and deliverablesSignificant experience in high-end single-family residential projectsExcellent organizational, communication, and coordination skillsExperience interacting with clients, consultants, and managing project communicationAbility to work closely with the firm principal and production team from schematic design through construction administrationExceptional attention to detail and strong time-management abilitiesAbility to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines consistentlyStrong mentoring skills with the ability to support and guide junior staffStrong verbal and written communication skillsPassion for modern and contemporary architectureReliable transportation for occasional site visits and meetingsActive participation in firm-wide planning, business development, and studio growth initiativesPersonal Qualities
