Help New Mexico (HELPNM) was created in 1965 by the interdenominational New Mexico Council of Churches to support education in their community. Today, their legacy and impact carry on through HELPNM’s work as a fully-owned subsidiary of CPLC. The Office of Learning and Academic Opportunity (OLAO) provides services to children and families from birth to eight years of age. Our priority is to provide general services related to families in the areas of education, health and social / behavioral development. OLAO also provides an intentional, coordinated approach to strengthening the family unit and combines programming for children and adults in order to build strong and stable families.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?
- You will oversee and manage all NM PreK, Early Head Start, Preschool Head Start, and Childcare Programs located within the region.
- You will work closely with Regional and Content Area Coordinators and Specialists to ensure program sites are operating within the NM PreK Program Standards, Head Start Program Performance Standards and CPLC policies and procedures and to support children and families.
- You will promote school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success as it relates to this position.
- You will actively supervise children by sight and sound and in all environments.
- You will maintain all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment.
- You will facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the outdoor and indoor environments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will directly supervises the Regional Program Coordinators and Facility Specialists as well as indirectly oversee all program staff who report to the hiring managers within the region through a multi-level system and includes staff hires, evaluation, professional development, disciplinary action and employee discharges.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Minimum education qualifications :
Baccalaureate degree in human services or education5 years of experience in an early childhood education environment2 years of management and supervision experience. Other requirements :Minimum qualifications for the position are as follows :
Experience working with low-income and culturally diverse children, families and communities.Must demonstrate experience in early childhood education programs and services, community-based collaboration, partnership development, and cross system service planning and development.Strong knowledge of financial and budget management.Strong capacity building, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.Effective leadership, management / supervision and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated understanding of the Head Start philosophy and principles of shared governance and decision making.Proficient computer, software (e.g. Microsoft Office 365, Adobe) and web-based systems ability.Valid driver's license in good standing and proof of insurance.Other Requirements
Experience and commitment to working with multi-ethnic, multicultural, low-income populations.Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, especially Microsoft teams).Proven supervisory and effective leadership skills.Excellent documentation and clinical skills.Proven ability to follow-up and meet deadlines.Excellent initiative, flexibility, and stress-management in handling the demands of leadership.Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and delegate in order to balance the many responsibilities, and address the various issues, that a leader faces during the workday.Preferred qualifications :
Knowledge of early childhood development and / or HSPPS and Head Start Act.Bilingual English / Spanish.SPECIALIZATIONS
You must have or be eligible to complete a TB test and receive a TDAP vaccination.You may be required to pass a physical and all required background checks per Head Start, state, local and licensure regulations to include a Child Abuse and Neglect register check and obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.You must have and maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance within the state of their residence.You must be First Aid and CPR certified or obtain certification within the first 6 months of employment.What does CPLC offer YOU as a valued employee?
