Electric Boat Summer Internship

General Dynamics Electric Boat provides an unparalleled learning experience for college students, offering practical exposure in the defense industry alongside expert engineers, shaping the future of submarine innovation.

This program requires a minimum commitment of eight weeks during the Summer 2026 season.

Participation in this program requires medical screening, passing a drug test, and potential DOD investigation.

This is not a remote opportunity.

Job Description

Electric Boat offers an excellent learning environment and real-life experience for college students. Program Office Interns, working with senior staff and mentors, will support construction of submarine modules for COLUMBIA class submarines and VIRGINIA class submarines at Electric Boat's Strategic Partners. Activities include the management of design and construction activities through the development, improvement, and utilization of metrics to optimize program performance, contact and product development and management, shipyard problem resolution, and other various technical activities.

Material Control maintains warehouse and buffer storage for all Submarine Programs.

Logistic Analyst Interns at Electric Boat will interface with engineers, designers, service departments, shipyard personnel, and our Navy customers. Using a design-build-sustain approach and working in a team environment, Program Office Interns will work with these teams to develop innovative solutions to solve design, new construction, and in-service problems on nuclear submarines. Upon acceptance into the Electric Boat internship, you will get a mentor on your first day that will work with you for the duration of your internship. Material Control / Logistic Analyst Summer Interns will experience and or learn the following tasks :

  • Learn the business and process of management and movement of material needed to support construction of all classes of submarines built at Electric Boat
  • Learn technical requirements and has acumen to draft and / or modify policies and procedures as needed to adapt to current practices
  • Learn about logistics management, data management & KPI reporting, project reporting, material availability analysis, review of schedules, support of up and downstream customers
  • Learn about fiscal understanding when analyzing documents and when purging material as scrap or excess
  • Learn the use of various reports and computer driven systems.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.
  • Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university
  • At minimum students must have completed their Freshman year prior to the start of the internship.
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week for a minimum eight (8) consecutive weeks between May 2026 to September 2026.
  • Selected candidates will be responsible for establishing housing and reliable transportation for the duration of their intern assignment.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor or Masters of Science Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Logistics
