Level 4 Data Center Tech (All-Shifts)

TEKsystems currently has a variety of Data Center Tech positions available for a large GPU Deployment project with our client in Mount Pleasant, WI. This consists of Level 2 Techs, Level 3 Techs, Level 4 Techs & Lead Techs. Looking for people who have some exposure in Data Centers or are interested in getting their foot into Data Center environments. Individuals who have knowledge and some exposure with cabling (fiber optic, copper, Cat5, Cat6, any), Servers, Switches, Routers, troubleshooting, etc. would be a great fit. Along with individuals that either currently hold or are pursuing certifications such as CompTIA Net+, Server+, Cisco certs, etc. In short, the shifts and top skills for each position is below. Please note, that the compensation on this job description is for Level 4 Tech positions, and other lower / higher skilled positions will be compensated differently. • A Side Day Shift : Sunday – Tuesday, Every other Wednesday 6a-6p
• A Side Nights : Same as above except for 6p-6a
• B Side Day Shift : Thursday – Saturday, every other Wednesday 6a-6p

Description

J ob Brief : We are seeking a highly skilled Level 4 Data Center Technician to join our IT team. The Level 4 Data Center Technician will be responsible for the break-fix of GPUs, servers, network, and cabling, as well as ticket management (ITSM). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in landing fully populated GPU or network racks within a data center environment, including rack movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot-air containment, and overhead cable containment trays. They should be familiar with interpreting BOMs to ensure all materials are accounted for and have a strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies, including copper, fiber (SM, MM, MPO), routing, dressing, and connectors.

Responsibilities :

o Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation.

o Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged.

o Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps.

o Ensure all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards.

o Double-check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up.

o Install additional components needed (NIC, Drive, Memory).

o Assist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed.

o Audit servers and consumables.

o Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.

o Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.

o Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.

o Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.

o Assist network admins on any issues they are having with a server, including replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, changing out parts, and installing upgraded versions of those parts in servers.

o Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on the device.

o Assist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switches.

o Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

o Perform break-fix tasks, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.

o Provide advanced troubleshooting support and resolution of tickets.

o Serve as the initial contact / liaison between team members and management.

o Prioritize and manage workload across the team.

o Review build documentation before projects and validate any questions or concerns.

o Direct build activities related to data center operations.

o Ensure projects are aligned with data center standards.

o Provide thought leadership to aid with growth across the program.

o Manage multiple simultaneous projects with a high degree of stress within the work environment.

o Monitor project deadlines and provide status updates to project managers.

o Ensure compliance with safety measures and data center standards.

o Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

o Perform break-fix tasks related to GPUs, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $42.00 / hr.
