Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details Position : Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Nursing Location : Springfield, Illinois (62781) Unit : Medical Cardiac Stepdown (IMC / Telemetry) Assignment Type : Travel Nursing Contract Start Date : November 17, 2025 End Date : February 16, 2026 Contract Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Nights, 12-hour shifts (18 : 45 - 07 : 15); 3x12 or 4x12 schedules Hours per Week : 36 Estimated Weekly Pay : $2000 - $2050 Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend Charting System : Cerner EMR Scrub Color : Any solid color Parking : Free with permit Registered Nurse Qualifications Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Cardiac Stepdown, IMC, Telemetry, PCU, or acute care nursing Active Illinois RN license (required at submission) Certifications : ACLS and BLS (AHA or Red Cross only) NIHSS certification preferred Proficiency with Cerner EMR charting system Ability to float to similar units as needed Experience in charge nurse roles, teaching hospitals, or Level I Trauma Centers preferred Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps holiday periods Local candidates accepted; no radius restrictions Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a busy cardiac stepdown unit (average daily census : 38) Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to cardiac emergencies Care for patients before and after cardiac procedures (angiogram, cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, sheath removal, TR band) Manage feeding tubes, surgical drains, wound care, and wound vacs Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips per protocol Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage arterial, central, and PICC lines Support patients with respiratory needs (CPAP / BIPAP, HFNC, chest tubes, oxygen therapy) Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, rapid response) Float to similar units as required to meet facility needs Maintain accurate documentation and uphold infection control and isolation precautions Ready to take the next step in your nursing career?
