Job description

Position Title : Sr. Certified Medical Coder

Work Location : Remote - Any Time Zone

Assignment Duration : 9 Months (Potential to Extend or Convert)

Position Summary :

  • This role will be working on production performing DRG audits daily.
  • There may be a couple hours of trainings / meetings otherwise the remainder of the day is spent on production performing audits.
  • The team utilizes AI support technology to perform audits more effectively and comfortability with the technology is a necessity for success.
  • This role is unique because it combines clinical expertise and coding expertise to deliver a comprehensive review of the admission and coding to ensure proper payment.

Background & Context :

  • The PICRA team has a backlog of 12,000 claims awaiting DRG audit we need to burn down and get complete to correct the payment and get responses out to providers.
  • These staff would be joining a team of 14 FTE MCR's in a similar role and 4 Trainers / Auditors to support training and quality.
  • This is closing out our hiring needs.
  • Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform DRG audits daily.
  • Participate in a couple of hours of training / meetings as required.
  • Use AI support technology to perform audits effectively.
  • Deliver accurate and comprehensive reviews of admissions and coding to ensure proper payments.
  • Qualification & Experience :

  • Required Licensure : RN and RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC.
  • Preferred Education : BSN.
  • Required Experience : 3 years of DRG Audit experience.
