About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced  Medical Biller  to support the financial and administrative operations of our growing psychiatric practice. This hybrid role (on-site and virtual) is based in Washington, DC and is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

The Medical Biller will work closely with our physicians, administrative team, and leadership to ensure accurate and timely billing, coding, and reimbursement across all services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit electronic and paper insurance claims for psychiatric and interventional services (TMS, Spravato, Ketamine, etc.) as well as run credit cards for cash payments.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and prior authorizations.
  • Post payments, reconcile accounts, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
  • Communicate with patients regarding balances, payment plans, and billing inquiries.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and billing regulations.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure proper documentation and coding accuracy.
  • Generate regular reports on collections, denials, and outstanding accounts.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in medical billing, preferably in psychiatry or behavioral health.
  • Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and insurance reimbursement processes.
  • Experience with psychiatry and / or interventional psychiatry services (TMS, ketamine, Spravato) a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in EHR and billing software systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
