Salary: $19.50 - $25.96 hourly*

Reports to: Director of Tutoring

Olympic College is continuously recruiting for Chemistry Instructional Tutor positions that may occur throughout the year. This position will be responsible for helping students develop knowledge, insight, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in Chemistry course materials. Part-time positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Olympic College is a public two-year community college accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities that educates more than 13,000 students a year. The college is located on the scenic Kitsap Peninsula across Puget Sound from the city of Seattle. Minimum Qualifications

Reference from an instructor or professor if you are a current Olympic College student.High School Graduate, Equivalent or Current Running Start Student.Basic computer competency.Applicants need to meet at least one set of course qualificationsInorganic Chemistry:Completion of CHEM 141/151, CHEM 142/152 and CHEM 143/153 or equivalent courses with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or betterOrganic Chemistry:Completion of CHEM 241/251, CHEM 242/252 and CHEM 243/253 or equivalent courses with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or betterDesired Qualifications

Terms of Employment

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.

Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement. This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $19.50 - $25.96 per hour*. They are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire, but could qualify for the following.

Conditions of Employment

Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
