Instruction & Classroom Support Tech - Chemistry Tutor
Salary : $19.50 - $25.96 hourly
Reports to : Director of Tutoring
Olympic College is continuously recruiting for Chemistry Instructional Tutor positions that may occur throughout the year. This position will be responsible for helping students develop knowledge, insight, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in Chemistry course materials. Part-time positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Olympic College is a public two-year community college accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities that educates more than 13,000 students a year. The college is located on the scenic Kitsap Peninsula across Puget Sound from the city of Seattle. Kitsap is surrounded by 236 miles of saltwater shoreline and is centrally located between the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges, affording spectacular views of mountains and water from every vantage point.
Essential Functions
Assist students in analyzing assignments and understanding class materials.
Assist students in interpreting and understanding chemistry concepts.
Assist students in the development of critical thinking and scientific communication skills.
Assist students in the development of effective study habits and skills.
Assist student working in an online format.
Perform other related duties as assigned and / or required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Reference from an instructor or professor if you are a current Olympic College student.
High School Graduate, Equivalent or Current Running Start Student.
Basic computer competency.
Applicants need to meet at least one set of course qualificationsInorganic Chemistry : Completion of CHEM 141 / 151, CHEM 142 / 152 and CHEM 143 / 153 or equivalent courses with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or better
Organic Chemistry : Completion of CHEM 241 / 251, CHEM 242 / 252 and CHEM 243 / 253 or equivalent courses with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or better
Desired Qualifications
College teaching or previous tutoring experience.

Terms of Employment
Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement. This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $19.50 - $25.96 per hour
