General Maintenance Worker

To maintain Northland Community and Technical College's buildings and grounds in neat, clean, safe condition and good repair. The incumbent will perform a variety of general work in the maintenance of the facility that will include essential employee duties.

Responsibilities include :

• Maintain Northland Community and Technical College's buildings in neat clean condition.
• Perform repair and maintenance duties as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications include knowledge of different types of flooring / floor coverings, chemical cleaning agents, and methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions, perform assigned tasks with limited work direction, keep simple records, and work with diverse cultures and populations. Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions including lifting and carrying objects, and sitting most of the time with pushing and pulling of arm and / or leg controls.

Preferred Qualifications include some knowledge of fire alarm systems, work in a variety of adverse weather conditions, and work above the ground level, such as on ladders and scaffolding.

In accordance with the Minnesota State's Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college / university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MinnState's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
