Mercury is a financial technology company that helps startups spend less time banking and more time building. We’re hiring a principal product designer for the Experiences group to define and design best-in-class interactions, patterns, and product experiences across Mercury’s core product experience — the app, dashboard, navigation, notifications, design system, and more.
As our principal designer, you’ll sit across the entire Experiences org and tackle projects that extend across the whole product and company, shaping global patterns and the visual language of our design system.
What we’re looking for
The candidate is a visionary craftsperson and a systems architect who can set the standard for exceptional craft while ensuring beauty and elegance are scalable. They should be viewed as the company’s highest-craft designer, inspiring others with taste and guidance.
Responsibilities include re-thinking the overall product navigation, defining global patterns (e.g., search and chat), and refreshing Mercury’s design system visuals.
Our design team consists of 40+ people who solve complex problems and also cultivate, guide, and inspire one another.

The total rewards package includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits. Salary ranges are competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and updated regularly based on reliable compensation data. New hire offers are based on experience, location, and internal pay equity.
