Role : Construction Manager

Location : Chicago, IL (regional travel required)

Salary : $100,000 – $130,000 (based on experience)

We’re representing a well-established General Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality ground-up commercial projects across the Midwest. They are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee multiple new builds throughout the greater Chicago area.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and has a proven track record managing full lifecycle commercial construction — from pre-construction planning through project closeout.

The Role

As Construction Manager, you’ll take ownership of several active ground-up commercial projects valued between $1M–$10M. You’ll oversee project execution, coordinate field operations, and ensure that every build meets the company’s standards for quality, safety, and efficiency. This position reports directly to the Director of Construction and requires regular travel to job sites throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities

Manage 5–10 active ground-up commercial projects within the Chicago region.
Oversee site superintendents and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Conduct weekly site visits, assess progress, and prepare comprehensive project reports.
Coordinate all project logistics, materials, and schedules with vendors and subcontractors.
Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling from pre-construction to final turnover .
Resolve field issues promptly while maintaining client satisfaction and jobsite productivity.
Collaborate with leadership and internal teams to forecast project timelines and costs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).

Minimum 5 years’ experience managing ground-up commercial builds (e.g., retail, office, mixed-use).

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong understanding of scheduling, site logistics, and subcontractor coordination.

Exceptional communication and leadership skills with a hands-on management style.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally to active project sites.
