POSITION SUMMARY : The Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as Rochester Christian Universitys senior officer responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, and management of all financial and business affairs. This role ensures the fiscal integrity, operational excellence, and long-term financial sustainability of the University, aligning all resources with RCUs Christian mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Working closely with the President, Senior Leadership Team, and the Board of Trustees, the VP / CFO provides leadership that strengthens RCUs financial health while advancing academic excellence, student success, and institutional stewardship.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- Work experience in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in higher education or a comparable nonprofit organization.
- Proven success in strategic financial planning, complex budgeting, and organizational management.
- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards, ERP systems, and higher education regulatory compliance is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and mission-driven leadership style.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Strategic Financial Leadership
Serve as the chief financial strategist, advising the President and Board of Trustees on financial planning, policy, and risk management.Lead the development and execution of a long-term financial strategy that supports institutional growth, innovation, and mission advancement.Oversee the preparation of the annual operating budget and multi-year forecasts, ensuring alignment with the Universitys strategic plan.Financial Management & Reporting
Ensure the accuracy, transparency, and timeliness of all financial reporting, audits, and compliance requirements.Oversee investment management, debt planning, endowment performance, and cash flow.Monitor key financial indicators and implement strategies to strengthen liquidity, solvency, and operational efficiency.Business Operations Oversight
Provide executive leadership for all business and administrative functions, including :Finance and AccountingBusiness OfficeProcurement and Contract ManagementAuxiliary EnterprisesHuman ResourcesInformation TechnologyPromote operational excellence, service quality, and cost efficiency across all divisions.Risk Management & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies.Oversee enterprise risk management, insurance programs, and internal controls to safeguard University assets.Board & Governance Support
Serve as staff liaison to the Boards Business & Finance Committee.Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and strategic analyses to support informed governance and decision-making.Leadership & Collaboration
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team dedicated to stewardship and service.Foster cross-divisional collaboration to ensure that financial planning and resource allocation advance academic quality and student success.Represent RCU in external financial partnerships, banking relationships, and community initiatives that strengthen the Universitys mission and reputation.REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
