This position is responsible for the research, planning, and execution of the FAA certification process.
Essential Functions
- Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project.
- Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design decisions.
- Compiles FAA certification documentation for submission to regulatory agencies and completion centers / ODA.
- Reviews and approves design changes from a certification perspective.
- Develops and executes certification programs for seats / divans per FAA guidelines / TSO / ETSO / 14CFR part 21, 25 and airframe guidelines.
- Authours test plans, test reports, aircraft seat installation instructions, component maintenance manuals, engineering reports, etc., as required.
- Supports design optimization tasks.
- Participates in conformity activities and may lead installation and conformity efforts.
- Prepares documentation for assigned projects to include certification documents, correspondence, and minutes of meetings with Civil Aviation Authorities.
- Provides technical leadership to a small group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians.
- Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
- Participates in defining engineering approaches and in planning / scheduling work.
- Coordinates certification and continued airworthiness activities within the company.
- May represent the company in meetings with government authorities and participate in international working groups and committees.
- Interprets airworthiness requirements and advises appropriate departments on airworthiness and certification matters.
- 100% onsite; some travel may be required to support external testing.
- Willing to learn and work in certification of Aircraft Interior products.
- May lead certification projects and review minor changes for acceptance.
- May review and approve certification documents.

Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering preferred.4-8 years' experience.Must have taken the current FAA sponsored Engineering Designee Initial Training Course.Physical Demands And Work Environment
