Job Description (General Summary)
Lapeyre Stair, a Division of Laitram LLC, is currently seeking a Shop Helper for our shop in Harahan, LA, who will be responsible for the fabrication of stairs systems to our specifications. Applicants should be self-starters, able to complete tasks with little direct supervision.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
Responsibilities
Perform general housekeeping / clean up in assigned area
Prepare carts with precut material and deliver to stations
Operate shop equipment as necessary
Assist production employees in performance of their duties
Assist Lay-out, measure, position, align, and fit into place
Gather materials.
Move material to next station
Other duties as assigned
It is essential that this position is performed at the facility.
Requirements
High School diploma, GED Equivalent, or Vocational School diploma.
Ability to work in and maintain a safe work environment
Entry level knowledge of all equipment and tools necessary to perform the duties required
Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment to move and align materials
Must be able to learn Lapeyre Quality Standards
Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Previous welding experience and / or vocational training.
- Previous overhead crane experience
Previous forklift experience
Experience working with the following equipment : flux core welding equipment, hand grinder, measuring tools, burning equipment, hammers, material handling equipment, saws, and other fabrication equipment
