What role you will play in our team

ExxonMobil is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide Subsea Controls Engineering technical support and expertise to its oil and gas development projects and production operations. The candidate would be part of ExxonMobil's Subsea team in ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company, working out of ExxonMobil's Bengaluru campus. The candidate would be responsible for providing corporate-wide technical and advisory support in the areas of subsea controls (including topsides controls equipment), cause and effects, interlocks, and electro / hydraulic distribution. Responsibilities will include developing and applying design and operating criteria for ExxonMobil's diverse, global portfolio of assets, new developments, and industry-led initiatives.

What you will do

  • Develop, specify, and apply subsea controls design / operating criteria for a wide variety of activities, developments, and operations, including large-scale deepwater capital projects, R&D programs, offshore installation activities, and low carbon solutions opportunities
  • Engage in subsea project support from concept evaluation to commissioning and startup
  • Evaluate strengths and shortcomings of different controls design philosophies
  • Participate in risk assessments, root cause failure analyses, technology evaluations / selections, and offshore installation of subsea hardware
  • Develop and carry out procedures for FAT, EFAT, SIT, and pre-loadout of subsea hardware and software
  • Participate in subsea industry activities
  • Lead revisions to company standards and / or industry practices
  • Support subsea operations issue identification and resolution
  • Interface with colleagues across disciplines to align on work scopes and products
  • Interface with suppliers, contractors, and third parties to ensure alignment with ExxonMobil expectations
  • Provide management with sound recommendations and context for subsea controls design philosophies and contracting decisions
  • Monitor and provide engineering oversight of third party contractors and service providers
  • Maintain ExxonMobil's subsea software and tools, including internal controls design / selection guides
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers in the subsea discipline

About You

Skills and Qualifications

  • B.Tech. or M.Tech. degree in Subsea, Offshore, Mechanical, Aerospace, Instrumentation & Control or Chemical Engineering or related disciplines with minimum GPA 7.0
  • 3 to 13 years' experience in subsea design or operations with expertise in subsea controls, emphasizing topsides controls and subsea equipment
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and evaluating Subsea Cause & Effects, interlock logic, alarm systems, and hydraulic and chemical system performance
  • Working knowledge of subsea controls equipment, topsides hardware / software, subsea / downhole instruments, umbilicals, and distribution systems; familiarity with subsea trees and manifolds
  • Familiar with typical equipment and component selection drivers & tradeoffs, failure modes, and diagnostic ability
  • Working knowledge of applying subsea engineering codes & standards (API 17A / 17E / 17F / 17H / 17S / 17Y / 17TR9 and other relevant standards)
  • Understanding of subsea system layouts, process flow, and interfaces with topside systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally (
  • Strong listening, verbal & written communication skills in English
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to mentor others and work with globally diverse teams
  • Flexible to work in shifts 1.30 PM – 10.30 PM IST
