Job Title : Commissions and Accounting Specialist Department : Finance / Accounting Reports To : Controller Location : In-person FLSA Status : Exempt Employment Type : Full-Time

Position Summary :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Commissions and Accounting Specialist to manage and execute all aspects of the semi-monthly commission and payroll process for our sales team. This role will also be responsible for maintaining and tracking sales representative agreements, onboarding new sales reps, and supporting various accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and General Ledger tasks. In the future, this position will expand to include full responsibility for non-commission-based payroll processing.

This is a dynamic, multi-functional role ideal for a candidate who is comfortable with both routine processes and process improvement initiatives, and who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Commission Administration (50%)

  • Calculate, review, and process semi-monthly sales commission payments accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with Sales, HR, and Finance to gather required data and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Maintain commission plans and ensure compliance with current policies.
  • Provide reporting and analysis of commission payments as needed.

Sales Rep Agreement & Onboarding (20%)

  • Track and maintain all sales representative agreements and related documentation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate onboarding of new sales reps, including commission plan setup and communication.
  • Serve as the liaison between Finance and Sales for all commission-related matters.
  • Accounting Support (20%)

  • Assist with Accounts Payable functions, including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment runs.
  • Support General Ledger activities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Payroll (Future Responsibility) (10%)

  • Learn and eventually assume full responsibility for processing company payroll.
  • Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate employee data and compliance with payroll laws and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data integrity at all times.
  • Qualifications :

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in commission processing and payroll
  • 1+ year of accounts payable and general accounting functions.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll processes.
  • Experience with ERP / accounting systems and commission / payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across departments.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in a sales-driven organization.
  • Prior experience supporting payroll or with full-cycle payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with commission automation tools or CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
