Job Description :

• Responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare to bedridden inmates, including evaluating care needs, developing care plans, and teaching health care principles.
• Administer medications, including narcotics, and perform direct nursing care as needed.
• Perform specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusion, incubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy.
• Organize and oversee the 'code blue' team; direct healthcare staff like hospital aides and licensed practical nurses.
• Serve as the lead worker in charge of the assigned shift in the absence of Nurse 2 employee.
• Assist physicians in conducting diagnostic health evaluations.
• Perform clerical tasks including charting and recording all medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information. Complete required reports such as incident and accident reports.
• Document and maintain constant and exact inventory of all controlled drugs, medication, and equipment.
• Arrange for out-patient clinic appointments and medical examinations by a physician.
• Coordinate new and refilled prescriptions through local pharmacies.
• Perform administrative tasks and serve as a liaison within the organization. Attend and sometimes conduct meetings.
• Occasionally serve as an instructor or as a member or leader of problem-solving teams.
