Professional Accountant Specialist

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL, in the Finance and Accounting department. The mission of the Finance and Accounting Department at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the accurate and efficient management of the department's financial resources. The Finance and Accounting Department is committed to transparency, accountability, and the prudent stewardship of public funds to enhance the overall financial integrity and sustainability of the department.

Job Duties

• Assist with the completion of the Department's monthly and fiscal year-end closing processes.
• Perform various financial reporting and reconciliation activities, including reconciling FLAIR, cash receipts, disbursements, property, and interfund / interagency transactions.
• Assist in preparing annual financial forms and supporting schedules for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in accordance with GAAP and state requirements.
• Set up and maintain FLAIR accounting codes, ensuring accurate and effective financial reporting.
• Analyze and interpret financial data to ensure compliance, execute corrective actions for errors, and assist with special projects as needed.
