American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring AZ or compact RN licensure and advanced critical care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within a critical care service linePatient population includes cardiac, neuro, medical, surgical, post-surgical, cardiac surgery, and COVID casesUnit includes CVICU (12 beds), COVID ICU (8 beds), MS ICU (8 beds), PCU (16-20 beds)Nurse to patient ratios vary : 1 : 1-2 in ICU depending on acuity, 1 : 3-4 in PCUTypical cases include sepsis, ARF, DKA, post-MI, STEMI, open hearts, Impella, TAVR, VAD, IABP, CRRT, DKA, and moreMust titrate all critical care drips (pressors, paralytics, sedation, antiarrhythmics, heparin, etc.)Nurses are required to independently read telemetry strips and interpret ABGsUses Cerner EMR; experience preferredShift is 12-hour nights with at least four weekend shifts per pay periodMay float to PCU, MST, or other ICU / PCU areas as part of the rotationFirst to float requirement for travelersIntensivists on site 24 / 7 with NP supportProvide comprehensive care for a broad range of ICU and stepdown patients including complex cardiac and post-surgical casesWill be responsible for reading own cardiac monitor strips due to lack of tele / monitor tech supportIntensivists and hospitalists are available in-house; respiratory therapy support is available but not 24 / 7 in ICUNurses must complete a skills checklist for advanced equipment such as SWAN, Impella, and CRRT if applicableOrientation includes 8 hours of general hospital training and one 12-hour precepted shift, followed by a second 12-hour buddy shiftHoliday coverage includes at least one winter holiday and an additional holiday eve; will not be assigned all major holidaysProfessional scrubs of any color allowed (no camouflage); navy blue scrubs will become required in OctoberBlock scheduling usually not permitted; schedule is posted four weeks in advance with some self-scheduling allowedMay be placed on call for low census as needed, but no scheduled on-call shiftsPrevious CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health employees with employment within the last year are not eligible\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license in hand; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experienceRequired certifications : BLS and ACLS (active, not pending)Strong EKG interpretation and critical care assessment skills requiredExperience with ventilator management, manual proning, weaning, and troubleshooting requiredFamiliarity with CRRT (Prismaflex preferred), IABP, SWAN, art lines, EVD, chest tubes, Impella devices highly preferredAbility and recent experience titrating multiple critical care dripsMust pass a dysrhythmia exam (minimum 80%) within two attempts prior to contract signingMust provide a copy of driver's license for considerationTwo professional references required (one supervisor from past 12 months, one peer or supervisor from past 3 years)Candidates must not have worked in any capacity (full time, part time, or PRN) for CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health in the past yearMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
