The County of Los Angeles Justice, Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD) is searching for its new Deputy Director, Independent Pretrial Services Agency. JCOD is the County's newest department unifying Los Angeles County's efforts to serve vulnerable justice-impacted people and communities and drive forward the Board of Supervisors' Care First vision. The Deputy Director, Independent Pretrial Services Agency, working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, will oversee the independent pretrial services agency and continue to scale its efforts to connect justice-involved and impacted individuals to community-based services earlier and more seamlessly.
The ideal candidate for the JCOD Deputy Director of the Independent Pretrial Services Agency will have a deep understanding of the criminal legal system, particularly pretrial processes in Los Angeles County, relevant laws, and a commitment to care first reform efforts through linkage to supportive, community-based services. This commitment must be grounded in practical knowledge and experience navigating the challenges of aligning multiple stakeholders in a large, complex, and siloed system. Ideally, this individual will have prior experience and a successful track record of building, leading, and evaluating successful pretrial services programs, teams, and relevant portfolios of work, directing a full range of administrative, operational, and budgetary activities to ensure individuals receive consistent high-quality service and compassionate care. The candidate should have demonstrated experience leveraging data to develop programs that serve and uplift historically underserved communities.
