Fraud Investigator
By emphasizing ONE Park, ONE mission, ONE team, the Fraud Investigator plays a critical role in protecting the credit union from fraud. The Fraud Investigator is responsible for conducting detailed analysis and research to detect and prevent fraud, managing fraud investigations, and mitigating potential losses. This role also involves working closely with other departments, handling fraud remediation, preparing reports, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of fraud trends and regulatory changes to safeguard the credit union's financial health and its members' security.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
- Reviews data from multiple systems and reports to identify account, transactional and identity theft risks.
- Investigatesa any unusual activity and takes corrective action to prevent losses.
- Manages time effectively while working with multiple alerting and reporting systems throughout the day.
- Works closely with Retail staff and other departments to aid in emerging fraud situations.
- Monitors and responds to emails from service partners in the department inbox.
- Researches, investigates and documents fraud claims including but not limited to Deposit, Mobile, Card, ATM / ITM, Online Account Takeover, Shared Branching, ACH, Payments, AML and Lending Fraud.
- Prepares and submits to the Fraud Intelligence and Investigations Manager an analysis of current trends and activities.
- Works with law enforcement as necessary for resolution of cases.
- Regularly speaks with members regarding fraud cases and provides fraud remediation and awareness education.
- Participates as an active member of the SAR committee to determine if filing is required for SAR and Elder Abuse cases.
- Prepares all fraud cases for review by this committee.
- Maintains knowledge of current fraud trends and methods for detecting them and preventing loss to the credit union.
- Maintains knowledge and awareness of all regulations and how they impact fraud analysis and regulatory compliance including BSA, FACTA, OFAC, etc.
- Reports all potential BSA violations and transactions discovered during analysis.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience Three years to five years of similar or related experience.Education (1) Completion of a specialized fraud-related certification or licensing is preferred, or (2) A two-year college degree, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.If applicant does not currently hold an approved fraud related certification or license, they will be required to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe after being hired.Interpersonal Skills Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and / or training others is key at this level.
