At Tesla, we are accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy, and our Lithium Refinery near Corpus Christi, TX, plays a critical role in this mission by supporting the production of battery materials for electric vehicles.The Associate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for managerial leadership and complex technical work across a wide range of EHS disciplines. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and execute EHS programs in support of Tesla's Lithium Refinery and within the existing framework of the Tesla EHS Management System to protect workers, the environment, and surrounding community.

What You'll Do
Lead overall EHS operations by anticipating and controlling EHS risks. Develop, mentor, coach EHS team based on data driven performance assessments and stakeholder feedback
Oversee the development and implementation of EHS policies, programs, procedures, and management systems necessary to continuously improve and foster a positive EHS culture
Establish, track, communicate and develop plans to achieve Global EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets and Objectives & Key Results (OKR)
Proactively collaborate with EHS global and regional functional leadership to ensure the participation in and consistent implementation of EHS initiatives
Develop and maintain a comprehensive proactive risk management program for refinery operations and regularly review and update it to reflect regulatory changes and recent lesson learned
Develop, implement and oversee MOC processes to evaluate and approve changes in equipment, processes or procedures that may impact safety, health or environmental performances
Lead incident investigations into workplace events, near-misses and environmental events to identify root causes and contributing factors and present findings to senior management
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering or Safety-related discipline. CSP, CIH, CHMM preferred; or equivalent experience
5+ years of progressive experience as an EHS professional building and managing EHS programs, driving risk reduction, compliance, and overall continuous improvement. Experience in lithium, metal refining, battery cell manufacturing, heavy chemical, oil & gas, semiconductors, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or research and development industries is highly preferred
Previous experience as a people manager directly managing EHS staff (e.g., EHS Technicians, Specialists, Engineers)
Practical, hands-on experience with the following : EHS risk assessment, process safety, equipment safety, control of hazardous energy, industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, environmental compliance, emergency response, hazardous materials management, incident investigations and analysis
Ability to quickly adapt, adjust schedules when needed, take initiative, prioritize and work effectively within a fast-paced innovative environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence and communicate with associates and all levels of management
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Work, Power Point, Project, etc.)
