American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU Float Pool position with night shifts and flexibility to cover multiple acute care units.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital setting within the Nursing Float PoolPrimary coverage in the ED Hold unit with additional floating to ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, Rehab, and other acute care units as neededPatient populations include ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, oncology, ortho, palliative, and rehabilitationPatient diagnoses may include respiratory failure, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, post-operative, CHF, COPD, and general medical-surgicalICU patient ratios of 1 : 2, PCU / CCU 1 : 4, Med-Surg 1 : 5, Rehab 1 : 8 (team model)Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systemsNight shift, 12-hour shifts, with weekends varying based on unit needsFloating within scope, with partial shift floating possible between covered unitsResponsibilities include caring for patients with diverse and complex medical conditions in fast-paced unitsParticipate in ACLS level transports within the hospital and assist ED Hold unit during low transport periodsTech, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist support available 24 / 7Orientation includes 2 days hospital orientation, 1 day unit orientation, and 4 hours on new units when floatingFirst time travelers are acceptedSchedule provided in 3-week blocks, with up to 5 days time off allowed by requestNo holiday requests or self-scheduling allowedMust report to assigned unit on time; assignments may vary daily\n \n Requirements\n
Current WA or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experience requiredACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredProficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator management, invasive line management, and general ICU skillsEpic EMR experience preferredAbility to titrate IV medications as requiredEffective communication and patient education skills requiredTelemetry competency required\n Benefits\n
