Must-Have :

• Recent medical surgical experience
• Level 1 trauma experience
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Telemetry experience preferred

Description :

Candidates must have recent medical surgical experience.

Level 1 trauma experience is required.

Charge nurse experience is preferred.

Telemetry experience is preferred in case of floating to other units.

No first-time travelers are accepted.

Travel teams must have their own vehicles.

Natural hair color and no facial piercings are required.

Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing.

Candidates are required to pass a DYS exam prior to acceptance.

Two attempts are allowed, and if failed, there is a six-month do-not-use period for specific regions.

All RNs will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, except for NyICU and ED.

Competency in maintaining sterile fields is essential, as these are frequently performed skills.

Common diagnoses for patients include post-operative cases, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infections.

RNs will titrate Heparin drips and are expected to manage and interpret their own telemetry strips.

There is no telemetry in the specified department, but preferred skills are needed since there is potential floating.

House Supervisors are available 24 / 7.

No certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are utilized on this unit.

Travelers are required to work three weekend days per pay period.

Holiday requirements will be incorporated into the permanent staff rotation schedule.

Navy blue scrubs are worn by RNs.

This is a newer unit, and there may be some learning and growth occurring as the team develops.

Cancellation policies allow up to four shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.

The charting system used is Cerner.
