Shipfitter Journeyman

Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking a Shipfitter Journeyman to help support our operations. The Shipfitter Journeyman is responsible for the assembly, cutting, grinding metal structural parts to include plates, bulkheads, and strong-backs. The Shipfitter Journeyman also aligns parts in relation to each other, fit-up and tacks foundations and structural members, performs layout according to blueprints or reference lines, marks locations of holes to be drilled, drives wedges, and installs temporary fasteners to hold parts in place for welding or riveting.

Minimum Requirements :

• Must possess a T1 certification
• Knowledge of blueprint reading, ship terminology and different metals
• Must be able to demonstrate proficient burning, welding, and craftmanship skills
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of shipfitting experience
• Must be able to work 1st and 2nd shift
• US Citizenship is required
• The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required
