DENTAL HYGIENIST POSITION SUMMARY

The Dental Hygienist will be responsible for delivering oral care that includes prophylaxis under the supervision of a Dentist. Responsibilities also include educational and organizational work to promote oral hygiene.

DENTAL HYGIENIST MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluency in English, including reading, writing, and comprehension.
  • A supportive team player who exemplifies teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Skills to tactfully interact with personnel, family members, visitors, and the public.
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to supervise and work well with others.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
  • DENTAL HYGIENIST ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform scaling and polishing of teeth and roots, remove sutures, take study models, polish amalgam restorations, and place / removal of rubber dams.
  • Assist the dentist with administering fluoride treatments and provide proper dental hygiene instruction.
  • Develop and implement oral hygiene education programs for patients.
  • Support the dentist in completing diagnostic x-rays and record all treatment information accurately in the dental record.
  • Initiate and maintain a recall program for inmates needing additional instructions and treatments, ensuring follow-up prophylaxis as required.
  • Check, maintain, and order instruments, equipment, and supplies as necessary.
  • Ensure appropriate cleaning, packaging, and sterilization of instruments.
  • Conduct dental assessments as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attend training and meetings as required.
  • Compensation details : $51-51 Hourly Wage
