Position Overview :
As a Per Diem Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), you will play a vital role in providing immediate medical care and transporting patients during emergencies. Your expertise will contribute significantly to stabilizing patients and ensuring their safe transfer to medical facilities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, assess patients' conditions, and coordinate necessary medical interventions with dispatch.
- Safely transport patients to medical facilities while monitoring their condition and delivering care during transit.
- Administer life-saving measures such as CPR, bleeding control, and airway management to stabilize patients effectively.
- Utilize essential medical equipment (e.g., defibrillators, oxygen delivery systems) competently during emergencies.
- Collaborate closely with paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, and hospital staff to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient care reports, documenting assessments, treatments, and patient responses.
- Ensure emergency vehicles and medical equipment are clean and ready for immediate use.
- Interpret various instructions, including diagnostic forms, and proficiently perform calculations related to patient care.
- Exhibit physical readiness by lifting and moving patients in challenging environments.
- Engage in continuous education to stay updated on medical protocols and enhance your skills.
- Demonstrate composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements :
Work in diverse and potentially hazardous environments, both indoors and outdoors, under various weather conditions.Maintain physical readiness to assist in moving patients and transporting medical equipment.Exhibit the ability to walk, kneel, crawl, and climb over uneven terrain during emergency responses.Remain focused and calm in emotionally charged and high-stress situations.Essential Qualifications :
Certification in AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider.Valid New York State Basic EMT certification.Current New York State Drivers License.Ability to exert heavy physical force; frequently require walking, standing, or squatting.Preferred Qualifications :
Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or equivalent.Strong knowledge of medical procedures and emergency care techniques.Location :
