Assistant Practice Manager - Newton Veterinary Hospital - NJ
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Veterinary Practice Manager to assist in leading and overseeing the operations at our 24 : 7 GP / ER hospital, Newton Veterinary Hospital in Newton, NJ. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our hospital, providing exceptional client service, and fostering a positive work environment for our team members. Your leadership skills, ability to coach and problem solve, experience in veterinary medicine, and passion for animal welfare will contribute to the continued success and growth of our practice.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Practice Manager in coordinating staff schedules, performance reviews, and goal-setting.
- Support hiring and onboarding processes, including training and mentorship of new team members.
- Help resolve staff issues and facilitate communication across the hospital team.
- Support team morale and maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Support the Practice Manager in monitoring financial performance, budgets, and key performance indicators.
- Assist in maintaining inventory control systems and ensuring appropriate stock levels.
- Help prepare financial reports and analyses as needed.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to identify process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and financial performance.
- Support a client-centered environment by assisting with client communications and problem resolution.
- Help implement programs to attract new clients and retain existing clients.
- Assist in resolving financial issues and facilitating client payment processes under the guidance of the Practice Manager.
- Assist with hospital software management, ensuring accurate and complete client and patient records.
- Support coordination between the hospital and VIP's centralized teams.
- Help organize and communicate hospital goals and operational updates to staff.
- Help maintain a positive, cooperative, and motivated team culture.
- Assist in planning and facilitating staff meetings and training sessions.
- Support the Practice Manager in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration across hospital roles.
- Represent the hospital positively with clients, patients, and colleagues.
- Demonstrate initiative by supporting hospital operations wherever needed.
- Assist with cross-training and filling in for team members as appropriate.
Qualifications
5+ years of veterinary hospital experience.Ideally, 3+ years in management experience either as lead veterinary technician or veterinary office management position, etc.Required : Certified / License Veterinary Technician + associate's degree in Veterinary TechnologyStrong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team management and client interaction.Proficiency in using practice management software, Microsoft Office, and other relevant tools.Passion for animal welfare and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and client service.Ability to lift 40lbs unassisted.Benefits
Salary : $70,000-$90,000 annually to commensurate with experience.
