The purpose of Southwire\'s College Programs is to provide valuable experience to students pursuing a bachelor\'s degree or higher. Our goal is to give students meaningful work that builds on what they are learning in the classroom. Our programs are project based. Students will receive a project at the beginning of the summer and present it in our project expo at the end of the summer. Responsibilities
- Job Summary / Objective : assist with a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects aligned to your field of study; develop a timeline, progress updates, and final delivery for a senior leadership expo.
- Internship and co-op assignments : generally 10-12 weeks (intern) or 16-18 weeks (co-op) with an assigned project and opportunities to present your work.
- Collaborate on other projects and work with peers and leaders, including many who began as interns / co-ops.
- Receive a robust developmental experience through onboarding / offboarding, a mentor, networking opportunities, events, activities, and community service initiatives.
- Impact the future of the organization while being part of a world-class program community.

Long Description
This position will support the Development Engineering team by contributing to key projects and initiatives that align with Southwire\'s strategic goals. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively. They should be eager to learn, demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, and possess excellent communication and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities :
Conduct research, analyze data, and present findings to support engineering projects and process improvementsAssist with the design, development, and testing of new or modified equipment, components, and systemsSupport data collection and analysis for root cause investigations, failure analysis, and quality improvement initiativesAssist in updating and creating engineering documentation, standard operating procedures, and process flow diagramsCollaborate on brainstorming of ideas for new products or product enhancementsParticipate in laboratory testing activities or process trials under guidance from engineersUtilize CAD software to create or revise drawings, layouts, or models as needed for project workPerform time studies or capacity analyses to support production and process optimization effortsPrepare technical reports, presentations, and other deliverables to communicate project progress and resultsEngage with cross-functional teams including maintenance, production, quality, and safety to drive project successSupport internal and external communication efforts related to engineering projects and initiativesPerform other engineering-related duties as assignedQualifications
Minimum qualifications :
Minimum 2.5 GPAMust be currently enrolled in an accredited college / university pursuing a degree in ME or EEReliable transportation to and from workAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamStrong organization, planning, and analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Solidworks, Inventor, or Autocad, MinitabCo-ops additional requirements :
