Position : Cashier / Customer Service / Sorter

Location : Hope Association Rumford, ME

Reports To : Program Director

Employment Type : Part-Time

Are you passionate about community, sustainability, and making a difference? The What-Not-Shop, a vibrant part of Hope Association, is looking for a friendly, reliable, and energetic team member to help us turn donations into treasures and smiles!

What Youll Do :

As a Cashier / Customer Service / Sorter, youll be at the heart of our missionsupporting community inclusion and environmental stewardship through resale and recycling. Your day will include :

  • Greeting and assisting customers with warmth and professionalism
  • Sorting and pricing donated items with an eye for value and uniqueness
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming shop environment
  • Supporting inventory rotation and merchandising
  • Assisting with marketing and community outreach
  • Opening and closing the shop as needed

What You Bring :

Were looking for someone who is :

  • A positive role model with excellent communication skills
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
  • Comfortable with bending, squatting, twisting, and moving items throughout the day
  • Equipped with a valid Maine drivers license, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance
  • A team player with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Committed to confidentiality, safety, and respectful interactions
  • Able to recognize and report concerns as a mandated reporter

    This role involves regular lifting, walking, and sorting. Youll work in a shop environment with varying temperatures, moderate noise, and occasional slippery surfaces. Safety is a top priority, and we provide training and support to help you succeed.
