6 Central is a 26 bed neuroscience unit which includes a Continuous Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and the Stroke Units. On 6 Central, neuroscience nurses collaboratively work with other healthcare team members to organize, oversee and provide well-rounded evidence based care to patients with acute and / or chronic neurological conditions such as ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, epilepsy with continuous electrode epilepsy monitoring or intracranial depth electrode epilepsy monitoring, neurodegenerative diseases, neuromuscular diseases and various other neurological diagnoses. With specific Neuro Core Curriculum classes built in to the 6 Central RN Orientation, we strive to promote fundamental neuroscience nursing education that will be applied at the bedside. Despite having this specific population as the majority, 6 Central often welcomes a wide variety of other specialties (i.e. trauma surgery, GYN, Hematology / Oncology and General Medicine, etc.) that may need to board on our unit.

Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of Medical Center professionals in an inpatient or outpatient setting or in a patient's home. Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization. Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedure to promote patient health and wellness. Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care. Performs administrative support functions. Maintains necessary skills and competencies. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education : High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience : No experience required. Relevant experience preferred.
Licensure : Certified Nursing Aide certification (CNA) through the Virginia Board of Nursing. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Physical Demands
Job requires frequently bending / stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift / push / pull 20 50lbs and >
100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood / body fluids and infectious disease.
Position Compensation Range : $15.37 - $23.82 Hourly
